How to Descale Your De'Longhi Linea Classic EM450 Coffee Machine?

Your Linea Classic, require regular cleaning and descaling to maintain it in perfect condition, but don't worry! The machine tells you when it's time to descale it by lighting up the  on the control panel (Orange  light ON).

The descaling procedure takes around 25 minutes to complete, so be sure to have enough time to finish the process. We highly recommend using our descaling solution EcoDecalk.

It is important to use De'Longhi descaler only. Using an unsuitable descaler and/or performing descaling incorrectly may result in faults not covered by the manufacturer's guarantee.

Step By Step Guide:

Important! Before use, read the instructions and the labelling on the descaler pack. 

If present, remove the Water Filter before descaling the appliance

Descaler could damage delicate surfaces. If the product is accidentally spilt, dry it immediately.

• Descale the appliance when the orange  light on the control panel. 
• Turn the machine on and wait until it is ready for use. 
• Empty the drip tray and grounds container and return both to their positions in the machine. 
• Empty the water tank and remove the water softener filter if present).
  
  
• Check that the portafilter is not attached and place a 1 liter capacity container under the hot water dispenser and under the coffee spouts.
• Pour the descaler into the tank up to level A (corresponding to a 100ml pack) marked on the inner surface of the tank, then add a litre of water up to level B and put the water tank back in the appliance. 
• Place a container with a minimum capacity of 2 litres under the cappuccino maker and coffee spouts.
• Press  button, the descaler solution will be delivered throught the coffee spouts. Once the erogation stops open the steam dial and keep it open till erogation stops.
  
  
• Empty the container used to collect the descaler solution and reposition it under the spouts.
• The machine is ready for rinsing with fresh, potable water. Extract the water tank, empty and rinse it under running water, fill it with fresh water and put it back in the appliance.
• Press  button, the descaler solution will be delivered throught the coffee spouts. Once the erogation stops open the steam dial and keep it open till erogation stops.
  
  
• To reset the descaling light (orange   light ), press the but- ton for 10 seconds, first the orange light then the white light will flashes to indicate that the descaling alarm is resetted.
